Secret Mermaids
Some of the sailors on this beach are mermaids, and they want the sea to rise. Win tricks to hide from the rain and to vote on the tide, and banish whoever you suspect. For 2 to 8 players: bots fill the empty seats.

How to play
Every player gets a secret card: mermaid or human. Mermaids don't know who the other mermaids are. There are always 4 to 8 seats; with fewer players, bots fill the rest, and they get a secret card too.
| Seats | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mermaids | 1 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 |
Everyone holds 6 cards from two Bezique packs (7 up to ace; the 10 beats the king). After each event, hands are topped up to 6.
Events
Each turn an event card comes up from the deck of 15 (10 tides, 3 rains, 2 councils), and a new trump card is turned up.
- Rain! There are three hiding spots (fewer if only a few of you are left), won by tricks, one spot per trick. The winner of each trick hides and sits out the rest. Everyone who doesn't hide rolls a die: a mermaid who rolls 5 or 6 is revealed and out of the game. A human who rolls 5 or 6 is shown to be human.
- High tide. Everyone plays one card to a single trick. The top three place a vote card face down: humans only have land cards, mermaids have water and land. The sea adds one card of its own (two in three of them are water). The cards are shuffled and turned up: with two or more water, the sea rises one level. If all three voters played water, that's three mermaids for everyone to see, and the mermaids lose.
- Council on the beach. Talk it over in the chat, then everyone votes to banish one player to sea, or nobody. The player with the most votes, if nobody ties with them, is banished and out of the game, and their card is shown.
Tricks
The leader plays any card, then everyone else in turn, and you don't have to follow suit. A trump beats the suit led, which beats anything else; within those, the higher card wins. Of two identical cards, the one played first wins.
Winning
- The mermaids win when the sea rises from 0 to 5, or if no humans are left.
- The humans win when every mermaid is out, when three mermaids give themselves away at a tide, or when the event deck runs out first.
